Fall Hedge Apple

Come and enjoy dinner on the porch. I made a centerpiece using Osage -Oranges.
The Osage Orange-is also known as the Hedge Apple.

The Hedge Apple is bright yellow-green.

The texture of a Hedge Apple is bumpy.

Do you remember these amber goblets?
They are from Duz  60's American Concord Amber Goblet.
They came free in detergent soap boxes.

The Hedge Apple smells like oranges.

The bread plate is from Cracker Barrel.
I think they are cute.

The dinner plates are from Fiesta Paprika color.

The salad bowls and dessert plates are Scarlet color.

We had a nice dinner on the porch.
It has been  so hot this summer we didn't get to enjoy our porch.

The Hedge Apple is a mosquito repellent.

Thanks for stopping.

  15. Jo, as far as you know should fresh hedge apples be used for outdoor decorating only? I have never used them inside because I was afraid they'd be harboring some kind of little critters that would invade our home! They work really well on your table with all the other elements! Have a great weekend!

  17. I love using hedge apples on the table...I haven't, yet, gone out to get a few this year. Someone told me if you put them out along the foundation of your house it will keep spiders at bay...didn't work the year I tried it!

  20. Beautiful tablescape, Jo! There's a nature preserve near me where I go hiking. I never knew what Hedge Apples were until I saw some on the ground there and researched them! I love how you've used them as a centerpiece. You really have a nice blog! Hugs,
    Cindy
