Work In Progress

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Kentucky.
I very nice day to work out in the yard.
I have been wanting to plant along  this
boring driveway to add some color.

My husband is now in the process of
planting eight Knock out roses for me.
He had  to stop and take a rest .
After he digs out the rest of the grass
he will be ready to mulch.
I  will add another photo when he finishes.
Have a great weekend. I am linking to :http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Pottery Barn Inspired Back Porch

Happy Earth Day!
Hope you were able to work out in your yard this week.
My Knockout Roses are in full bloom with this warm weather we have been having.

My daylilies will be blooming soon.

I have put out two Macho ferns and one Boston fern on the back porch.  I can not believe how big the Sylvia is.

As you can tell the porch is pretty bare.
And after going to the Pottery Barn, I got inspired to add some colors and textures.

I had brought back some shells from
my vacation and added them to this jar with a candle

I decided to hang my lanterns .

I found these brightly colored outdoor cushions for the chairs. They are stripped down because of the wind.

I added this umbrella with the same colors to the patio.

I added an outdoor rug.

It was time for a cool drink. I have a small
space, but now it will be more comfortable.

Hope you have beautiful weather
and enjoy you days on this earth.

Colonial Williamsburg, Va

Hello Friend!
I wanted to share my vacation pictures with you all.A few weeks back we went to Virginia.Theses are photos of Old Williamsburg. I love the symmetry in this colonial style   of
architecture.

You can see it was a beautiful day. I think it had to be just the best time to be there.
There was lots of walking.and the weather was just great.
This is the Burton Parish Church.
The unusual pews had names like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson on the doors that closed on each pew.
The pews were boxed in to keep a space between families to reduce the spread of diseases. Another reason for the pews being boxed in was to hold the warmth from the hot coals that the family would bring in.

Yes, there were horse and buggies going up and down the street.
Had to watch where you stepped.

I think this was George Washington.

Here you can see the detail in the brick work and stone.
Love these windows.
This is part of the Capitol.

This is another picture of the Capitol.
John D.Rockefeller Jr, in 1927  gave money to restore most of these buildings.

An  Colonial  flower garden.

I just loved seeing these oxen.

You can see how large they are.
They were very well trained and took directions .

This was part of the Merchants' Square.
Really good shopping.

This is the Magazine.
They kept their weapons and powder in this building.
It set apart from the rest of the buildings.

More shopping.

Yes, there were two grave yards.
We only spent one day and Colonial Williamsburg.
I would suggest at least two days minimum.
This is the map of Colonial Williamsburg.
You click on this to see how big it is and see why you need good walking shoes.

Cruising at Clearwater Beach

We stayed  at a beachfront hotel on Clearwater Beach. From our hotel window, we could see this pirate ship sailing each day and night. I have been on many cruises but not on a pirate ship.

We decided to take a two
hour cruise on this pirate ship.

It was lots of fun.
They had games to entertain the children and refreshments for the adults.
It was a nice day.

Virginia Beach Neptune

This was my first trip to Virginia Beach.
This is a statue of
Neptune  that sets at the
beachfront around 30th. street.

You can see we had beautiful blue skies and
warm weather. It was a little cool for me but
 others were in the water.
It was about 76 degrees.

Beautiful sandy beaches for miles.

The beach has one of the nicest
walks that I have been on. It way also very clean.
It was very relaxing. Hope you have a Happy Blue Monday! Come back and see my other posts! Love reading all of your comments. I will follow you back!

I wanted to share this information with all you quilters.
This is a great Quilt show. So come on over.
I would like to share my to new quilts I just finished before I went on vacation .
The pattern is for beginners like me.
I am very proud of them.
I made this quilt for my master bedroom.
This is called a Jelly Roll Strip Quilt .
It is  king size. The fabric is
 from a civil war collection.

I wish I had better light so you could
see the beautiful colors and details.
Those are little flags on the navy strip.

Here is the backing.
This is called a Strip Quilt also. I cut my own 2
1/2 inch strips in coordinating colors.

I made this quilt queen size for my guest bedroom.

The colors are blues, greens, browns and golds.

This is the backing. It is a neutral color.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my Quilts.
I am working on three different patterns.
Much more complex. Hope to finish one soon.Come back and see my vacation photos of Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and Clearwater beach.
